Dear Blues Fan,

May was a busy month for the blues music community here in New Jersey. From the mind-melting guitar of Chris Duarte with Joe Stuby & Rocking Horse to the delta blues by Dean Shot to the album release party for BLUES People to the rocking blues by GA-20 and the Nitro Blues Band, the local blues scene was alive and well.

We have some exciting blues music events coming up in June. The Showcase Series will feature Greg Piccolo, a founding member of Roomful of Blues, with Dean Shot opening on June 14th at The Stanhope House. Then, on June 15th at Factory Records, another Showcase Series will feature Ed Alstrom, with a presentation as a Yankee organist followed by a set of music. Finally, on June 23rd, the Blues and Brews Series will feature the Billy Hector Band at Montclair Brewery. We wrap up June with the Road to Memphis Local IBC Challenge on June 30th at The Stanhope House with seven bands and two solo acts competing.

I also wanted to provide an update on The Stanhope House. As you know, Greg Jones and I are trying to save this legendary venue from being demolished. Good news - the borough of Stanhope did NOT pass the rezoning ordinance! This small victory allows us more time to secure alternate solutions. So for all of you millionaires out there, give me a call!
