March 8, 2025, was a day to remember, as it marked International Women's Day and Women in Blues. The North Jersey Blues Society hosted its Showcase Series event featuring Women in Blues, where talent and passion filled the air. Excitement surged as four remarkable artists took the stage, each presenting their unique interpretation of the blues. The audience was fully engaged, and the energy in the room was undeniable, making it a truly memorable celebration of women in blues music.

Cassidy Rain

I would like to introduce our first Women in Blues honoree, Cassidy Rain. Cassidy is a talented songwriter, singer, and guitarist for the band The Outcrops. She began singing at the age of five and picked up the guitar at fourteen. In addition to her music career, she is a wife, a mother of two, and a certified substitute teacher. The band has released one self-produced EP and draws inspiration from various artists, including The Allman Brothers, Albert King, The Meters, and the Grateful Dead, among others.

The event kicked off with a lively performance by The Outcrops. From their very first note, this skilled group captivated the audience with their energetic sound and engaging presence. Their set featured a blend of original songs and classic blues covers, all infused with storytelling that resonated deeply with the crowd.
