The mission of Blues Alive is to bring history and music to young artists. They tie African American studies, American history, and blues music together to empower and enlighten.
Their cutting-edge approach is the only of it’s kind in that they bring the elder musicians, our Griots, into the classroom to convey wisdom through the oral tradition.
Their vision is to awaken the students as equal collaborators in the music they create together in the classroom. By providing workshops and performances they strive to entertain and engage with the student artists.
They pay homage to the blues musicians and Americans who paved the way before us by keeping the Blues Alive!
